As Olympics 2016 are going on, we thought it was just the right time to discuss about a few athletes who first competed in Olympics, some of them even won, and then tried their luck in acting by starring in popular TV series or movies. Though these athletes did not take acting as a full-time career, here are 10 of the Olympic athletes who did an acting role.
The tennis world champion picked her shining gold medals in 2000, 2008 and then in 2012 Olympics. During that time, she was also doing a fair share of acting as she starred in episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Hair Show, The Bernie Mac Show, and Drop Dead Diva and My Wife and Kids.
The snowboarder, Shaun white took two gold medals back to home after he won at 2006 and 2010 Olympics. He tried his luck on the big screen in 2011 by doing a small role in the movie: Friends with Benefits.
The spectacular gymnast took part in summer Olympics 2008 and won the prestigious gold medal. The same year, she starred in the episode of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and returned back to it in 2010.
It was in 2000 when Michael first took part in Olympics as a swimmer. He won and in later years, won more than a dozen gold medals in Olympics. During 2008, in an episode in Entourage, he played the role of himself. He is competing again this year in Summer Olympics.
Ryan first competed in 2008 Summer Olympics but did not score any medal. In 2012, he competed again and took home a gold medal. The same year, he earned two acting credits: He played himself in episodes of 30 Rock and 90210.
As a part of US men’s basketball team, Michael Jordan took part in 1984 and 1992 Olympics. His name which has become a legendary name showed up on screen after a few years, playing a role in 1996’s Space Jam.
In Summer Olympics 2012, Mckalya competed as a part of US women’s gymnastics team. Later on, she tried her luck in acting and did a six-episode stint on Hart of Dixie and starred in an episode of Bones in 2013.
