It is common to hear people losing weight. Even actors and actresses from Hollywood who always are in good shape and are so attractive most of the times work hard to lose weight. However, there are some cases where one would have to stop twice and rethink. Slowing down your body, not exercising and gaining weight is one of several and unusual things actors have to do. This is all part of their job.
These stars did some extreme changes and gained weight and some of them will rethink if they are asked to do it again.
For one, Jared Leto had to gain 67 lbs while preparing for the movie “Chapter 27”. He was playing Mark Chapman, the deranged fan who assassinated John Lennon. After the movie Leto suffered from gout. This is an unpleasant form of arthritis which is commonly cause by being overweight, drinking too much alcohol etc.
Another example of a frightening and unpleasant weight gaining experience comes from Gwyneth Paltrow. She had to gain 20 pounds for the role she was playing in “Country sound”. For a girl used to work out regularly, it was quite hard, as she revealed in an interview, to stop exercising. It is a shock for the organism which can lead to prolonged issues with your metabolism. Even after she lost the weight gained, she was complaining that she has issues: “My body didn’t really fall apart until right after we finished the movie, and now I’m having problems.”
Being a prostitute serial killer for the movie Monster in 2003 Charlize Theron gained 30 pounds. She achieved an amazing transformation where she altered her physical appearance with gaining weight and even shaving her eyebrows. Even before the premiere the actress managed to get back into shape and get awarded the Golden Globe in the category of Best Actress for the role she played. Her method seems more relaxed, when compared to the struggles which Gwyneth Paltrow had to go through. She simply ate Krispy Crème doughnuts and potato chips, which she keeps in her secret stash anyway, as she revealed in her interview with Guerrilla Traveler.
One of the most challenging experiences, especially for the feminine population comes from Renee Zellweger. Her weigh gaining for the movie “Bridget Jones” was more than a physical adaptation to her character. Namely, the movie tells a story of a single woman in Britain with her attempts to lose weight in order to find love. Even though the character herself is only slightly overweight and not obese, Zellweger had to gain 30 pounds before shooting the movie “Bridget Jones’ Diary” in 2001. After the first movie came out, Zellweger mentioned that she had concerns regarding her health, both mentally and physically. Still, she came back to the role of Bridget Jones in the new movie “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” where the actress went through a program and a health nutritionist to gain weight in a healthier way than she did the first. There are other examples of actors gaining weight, and can be health hazardous, but are admirable in the manner of passion and devotion concentrated in the professional approach for acting.
