The Jardines are an eight member band, fronted by a mother and daughter, who are gaining popularity fast. Cherelle and Ajaye Jardine match up perfectly, displaying tremendous chemistry with their voices and entertaining people with their songs. The first two albums from this dynamic duo conveys a mixture of maturity and innocence at the same time. Their voices, the songs and energetic performances have made their fans fall in love with them again and again. The Jardines growing popularity resulted in them singing at the Olympic Oval in Vancouver 2010 (any singer’s dream), as well as Cherelle being the spokesperson for the “Do You Believe” campaign in the Vancouver Olympics – played 20 times a day all across Canada.
The Jardines aren’t just another band making music. They are a band that lives to create and perform.
Their core foundation is built on love, respect and belief in their music and each other.
Together they make the perfect team, evident in the performance and depth of their songs. Cherelle and Ajaye believe in each other and their capabilities.
Special Performance: Someone’s Stolen Tuesday

Special Performance: All Fall Down
In 2009, Cherelle asked her daughter to join her in creating a new band, The Jardines, fully expecting a nineteen year old negative reaction, but was pleasantly surprised with Ajaye’s enthusiastic response.
Previously, Cherelle had a solo career and would take Ajaye to her gigs in a basket sidestage. Now daughter would join mother front and center!
Special Performance: Crazy World
Ajaye explains how the songwriting process works, with either of them creating the lyric and melody first, then adding the various instrumentation.
For some songs the process is longer than expected: Marc (co-producer of Someone’s Stolen Tuesday), mentions that one of the songs on the album almost didn’t make the cut because it wasn’t working for Cherelle. He suggested breaking the song into two parts basically, sung literally between mother and daughter, then the third line a harmony between all three vocalists. The song also went through many instrumental changes. “All Fall Down” became one of their favourites on the album. There is an acoustic version of this song here…
Special Performance: I Want More
The Jardines near future includes a trip to Nashville to showcase and write with some of the established writers in that great music city. They have many new ideas and videos planned for the next release in 2014.
“Someone’s Stolen Tuesday” is The Jardines second studio album. The self-titled, “The Jardines” release (2010), grabbed the attention of Gordon Lightfoot (a Canadian icon), after hearing The Jardines version of “Sundown” – a major hit for Gordon. He loved the new version!
Special Performance: Torn
Social media is a huge platform for The Jardines. Cherelle, a self-confessed Facebook addict uses the internet to promote the band’s gigs and recordings. Ajaye handles Twitter, Instagram and Reverbnation. It’s a team effort.
With the addition of upcoming videos, YouTube will also be a huge part of The Jardines marketing campaign.
Cherelle and Ajaye recently performed in the UK and they feel that performing globally is the way to gain more worldwide popularity. As Canada’s population is smaller than some areas, the group doesn’t want to feel confined to one area and wants to share their music everywhere.
Cherelle says, “Mothers and daughters love us. They come up to us and say they wish they had a relationship just like ours”.
Look for Ajaye in modeling competions too, such as “Strike A Pose” which is running as this blog is being published.
The Jardines music can appeal to everyone – ages 8 to 80. They write songs about real life situations that everyone can relate to and enjoy.
Listen to The Jardines music and the passion is obvious. The love of their craft shows in their lyrics, the depth of the music, melodies and the performance. Fall in love with The Jardines as so many others have, when you listen to the exclusive interview presented here…
