New York Yankees

Brief History

In 1900, the American League was formed to compete with the National League. The American League wanted to put a team in the New York City but they were facing resistance form the New York Giants due to their political influence, so they put the team in Baltimore.

They started their play as the Orioles in 1901 and they were partly owned by John McGraw. In 1903, after various feuds with the National League, it was decided in a peace conference that American League can put a team in New York and hence the New York Yankees were formed from the Baltimore Orioles.

Around 1920s, the Yankees got Babe Ruth in their squad who is considered to be one of the most talented players of all time. He led the Yankees to four championships and won them many events.
